Berkeley Electric Cooperative’s “Porche Outage Reporting System”
This system is designed to help you report an outage so we may receive information concerning the outage and respond quickly to restore your electrical service.
Here is how the outage reporting system works:
1.) If you are calling from the telephone number we have recorded on your account, the outage system will recognize it and will verify your service location. 2.) If you have more than one meter on your account, you will need to follow the detailed instructions provided by the outage reporting system. In the message option of the menu, you may leave a detailed message that should include your name, exact location of the outage and a telephone number where you may be reached if needed. If you know the cause of the outage, such as a car wreck or fallen tree, this information if also very helpful. 3.) As soon as your information is logged into the system, crews can be dispatched to your location to restore power.
Power Restoration During Major Outages
During a major outage, Berkeley Electric Cooperative crews work around the clock until all power is restored. With four district offices, line crews move quickly to areas affected by major storms. If the storm affects our entire distribution system, crews from Cooperatives across the state and Southeast may be called to help restore power.
During a major outage, power restoration is given in the following order:
1) Substations 2) Main feeder lines 3) Taps off of the main feeder lines 4) Individual service drops
Scheduled Outages
Berkeley Electric Cooperative’s system, at times, requires maintenance that may result in a scheduled and planned outage. We always try to plan these outages at times that will be the least inconvenient to our consumers. When possible, customers will be notified in advance of the planned outage to further minimize inconvenience. However, there may be times we may have to have an outage for the protection and safety of our linemen and the general public, without notification. We appreciate your patience during these rare cases. The safety of our consumers and employees with our commitment to reliable power is our primary goal.
